you may have bad or old gas in the tank. you say it's backfiring, so it wants to run. gasoline does not last as long as people think. especialy in a small scooter tank. if it has been sitting for a few months you might want to change it.

try setting your air screw on your carb at 1.25 turns out. engines run different under load.

alright, thanks. i guess i'll take some emerycloth to the rear steel pulley in case its burred. the variator is new so it should be fine. hope it does the trick. has there ever been an alignment issue with the two pulleys? i put it together as it was stock. there's no washer or anything like that ...

worn belt

my scoot was begining to surge and shake when i accelerated from a stop, so i took the belt cover off to discover my 3 week old bando belt looked like it had 2000 miles on it and was freyed in one spot. what do you think caused that? are those belts any good?
