Re: Plug read

400 is seize territory. Good rule of thumb is to never let it pass 380 and only ever get that hot on constant wot for 10 minutes. However, the speed of which the temps climb is also very telling. If its climbing very rapidly (300>330>360) stop immediately because its mega-lean. One of my builds ...

Re: Plug read

So cht gauge is installed. My understanding is the following for temps:

Idle: 190-220
Cruise: 260-310
Wot: 350-370

Could someone confirm??

If the above is correct, i am golden. My wot is low so i will lean it out but need to get some jets.

Re: Plug read

I actually chopped the above plug and this is the pic. I expected the ring to be darker but either it is too lean or not enough run time. Im not sure i can actually perform a legit plug chop on a scooter or maybe i have to run it down the road further? I have ordered a cyl head temp gauge with an ...

Re: Plug read

Hi Mike, no it runs good. There is a slight hesitation somewhere around 1/2-3/4 throttle before hitting a noticeable power band but all in all it runs good. I leaned it out (needle clip 1 setting and also air screw 1/2 turn. Initially using existing plug but it looked wet - hence deciding to start ...

Plug read

Hey all. 84 Aero 80. Could someone tell me if this plug is just right, or is it lean? Brand new plug out of the box, about 5 minutes of runtime, ripped down the road WOT, turned around, hit WOT again and then parked it and pulled the plug. Unfortunately I have just the one plug along with the old one.

Re: 84 Aero 80 carb swap

Yes I did, i removed the pump entirely and used an expandable plug in the case hole, 3/4” if i remember correctly, the automotive type used as freeze plugs sometimes. I do believe the stock system to be reliable, i just wanted a cleaner set up. Stock oil system leaked everywhere and the choke didnt ...

Re: Aero Exhaust

By the way. Not sure how much activity is on this site. But I cut my stock can open. I first noticed some carbon buildup on the tip. And there was a ton of buildup in the exhaust port in the cylinder. The can was pretty heavy so i wanted to see what was inside. So apparently this glasspack style ...

Aero Exhaust

Will a Dio or similar exhaust fit an Aero 80?

What models are close?

I can cut and weld. Does not mean i want to take a $200 pipe and chop it to pieces. So i am asking if anyone knows what will fit with minimal modification. Ideally something closer to stock (not looking for all-out race) and ...

Re: 84 Aero 80 carb swap

I will answer my own above question. The carb is infact 16 mm, model number PB54D. I found this in the service manual on this site. So thanks for that!

New question. I am considering deleting the oil system and premixing my gas. Typically I trust factory oiling systems, and also I'm guessing that ...

84 Aero 80 Top End / Gaskets

Hey all. My 84 Aero 80 runs great but it’s time to give her some love. Upon removing the heat shield it looks like I may have a failing head gasket (still runs great tho)

Could someone kindly point me in the right direction on where to source a top end gasket kit? And (fingers crossed) maybe a ...

Re: 84 Aero 80 carb swap

Hey Mr. Rob406: Here's a notion. What if you retain your OEM carburetor,

Thanks for the reply! Well i actually pulled the trigger on a 21mm carb, intake and some other goodies. Knowing how hard it is to find parts I have kept all original pieces labelled and packaged neatly.

Does anyone ...

84 Aero 80 carb swap

Hey guys. I have a 1984 Aero NH 80 which I’ve owned for at least 6 years now. Nowadays I mainly only ride it when we take it with us on vacation, for about a week or so a year.

I want to go with a carb swap, mainly to have the use of a cable operated choke. I have been doing some homework but need ...
