Ok, I've checked for intake leaks and all seems well. Float and needle are new and have double checked them. I guess maybe the choke could be acting up.

won't idle properly

Finally got the 85 spree running after years of sitting up. Got a carb from ebay, cleaned it multiple times and added in-line fuel filter. Spree is a little difficult to start (sometimes have to hold throttle about 1/3 open) but once started runs down the street pretty good. Idle is crazy, it will ...

oil pump question

How much oil should the oil pump pump if the oil pump could pump oil?

Is there a measurement?

Yes, I'm certain I as to which is the air screw and which is idle screw. Today, I tried to start the spree and I'm back to no start again. Tries to start but not quite as if idle or choke jet is again clogged. I just can't believe this carb is clogged up again. :x

Bad typing on that last post, I will restate:

The idle got higher the further the idle screw was screwed in, reaching its highest idle with the idle screw all the way in.

Ok, I cleaned the carb yet again. Now my spree will start and run but it idles irratically. Not by just a few hundred rpms but jumps around to sometimes very high rpm and then after a few seconds there will idle good then back high then too low and dies. When the heck??

Ok, after soaking carb again last night and blowing idle jet with 100psi I cleared the obstruction. I reassemble and it cranked good, ran for 30 or 40 seconds then died like starving for fuel and again trouble restarting. Guess I should go back into carb and clean again. Is anyone running an inline ...

Ok, I have determined that I have clogged idle jet and 100psi air won't blow it out. Guess I'll soak it tonight and try again tommorrow. This could explain the starting issue.?

Another carb problem I think?

Ok, My 85 will only start with starting fluid then I take off and go about 20 feet then abruptly dies and will not restart. I have 2 carbs and I'm having the same problem with both. I have good fuel flow to carb. Air box is there with good filter. I have cleaned both carbs and blown out all passages ...

choke adjustment

my electric choke assy. is good and carb is good, but ever since I have had my spree I have to give it a squirt of starting fluid for it to start from cold, restarts from hot are no problem. Seems that the electric choke is just not enrichening the circuit enough. Carb is definately clean. Any ...

yet another question about oil pumps

how long does it generally take for the oil pump to prime if the scooter has been sitting up for a long time? I drained the oil tank and refilled with fresh oil. I pulled the oil pump for inspection as the manual says (looks ok i suppose.?) I have bled the lines and I run the engine for about 15-20 ...

carb parts

Well in inherited an 85 spree that has been sitting up in a garage for the last three years. For some reason the carb was off the scooter and most of the parts were in a box. I purchased a new battery, drained the oil tank and fuel tank and replaced the lines on both. I had 130 lbs of compression so ...
