I have an 86 spree that I am trying to get running and before I swap piston rings I want to make sure that is actually the problem.
Currently the spree will start and idle for a little bit and then die. Originally I thought it was just running rich because the plug was wet.
What I have done so far ...

Re: Electric starter issues
Okay guys I tried jumping it again and got it to work the way wheelman said to. worked great.
So now the question is why my push button start does not work?
I am going to try to look for shorts in the wiring. Is there anything special since the two brake levers have switches? Or is there anything ...

Re: Electric starter issues
Sweet, thank you wheelman. I will give that a try. I'm pretty sure that it is toast though. Hopefully that will fix my issues with the electric start not working.
I will give an update after this has been tested

Re: Electric starter issues
Bueller?
Come on, I know that someone on here has to know how to jump the starter while it is off of the moped. I just want to confirm I am doing it right before buying a new one.

Re: Dies after hitting bumps
I stated in my last post that i figured out the issue. The choke bowl was dented. This is caused by someone installing the carb and switching the positions of the two carb mounting bolts. If you put the long bolt in the wrong side it dents it and does not allow the bystarter to choke the motor after ...

Re: Dies after hitting bumps
Well I finally figured this out. It was the dent in the choke bowl causing my issue. I had to replace the carb with a used one. Now she runs perfect!!!
Thanks for the help you guys. Hopefully this will help people in the future.

Re: Bumps Cause Spree to Nearly Stall
check the carb's choke bowl. If someone along the way has installed the two mounting bolts in the wrong spot it will put s dent in the choke bowl and not let the bystarter choke the carb. This was the exact problem that i had.

Electric starter issues
Ok guys, I have just gotten my 86 spree back up and running after swapping out the carb. I currently kick start it to get it running and it kicks over very easily. The issue i have is with the push button start. I am not really sure what to look for to figure out why it is not working properly. I ...

Re: Won't stay running, dies at low idle
I Think that it runs rich but I'm honestly not sure how to tell. I think possibly rich because giving it throttle doesn't help keep it running.
When I fixed the issue with the choke bowl I had to sand away the dent, in the process I know that I sanded the whole wall that the choke sits in. I'm ...

Re: Won't stay running, dies at low idle
Just tried to do that and it still wont stay running. It'll idle high for about 30-45 seconds and sound perfectly fine and then out of nowhere it dies. it does the exact same thing every time I start it with a high idle.

I guess I just haven't been able to get as clear of a look as you got in your pictures mouse. To me it looked like a clip or something but I guess it is just the casting that I'm seeing. thanks for the higher quality pictures mouse!

Re: Dies after hitting bumps
Clem, thanks for the advice. I have access to a nice drill press so I was going to go that route, but only if I got the brass emulsion tube out. To get the brass tube out I gave it a few taps with the back end of my screwdriver and it popped out.
