Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
I checked the compression, the needle on the gauge moves around 90-110 psi when I crank the scooter. I determined that the oil pump is indeed working and not leaking. I took off the carb and gave it to my friend to give it a good ultrasonic cleaning. I am off to the auto parts store and replacing ...

Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
Hmm... Im going to take out the oil pump today and set it in a cup to see if it leaks. I ran the starter for almost half a minute (with breaks) with the plug off and looked in the plug hole and saw oil on the threads. I also pulled the exhaust off and saw oil inside the exhaust manifold too, not ...

Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
Ok guys, heres the *,
I was in the process of removing the fan shroud and top cover in order to get to the manifold, and I noticed something that I was too dumb to see before, oil behind the flywheel near the bottom, where presumably the bottom of the crankshaft is.
I included pics of the leak ...

Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
well,it USED to bog down after riding, not its all the time. I puller the plug after running it a while and its all black and oily. It used to not smoke as much, and be light brown around the plug. I checked the o ring and it looks to be on correctly, but like I said, I had this reduced rpm issue ...

Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
I reassembled it, but the bogging and low RPM was a problem BEFORE I cleaned the carb, there was no improvement in performance at all after I cleaned the carb, checked the petcock and the tank cap, and checked the exhaust port AND decarbonized the muffler.. I am waiting to buy a compression gauge ...

Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
Ok, I dissasembled the carb and cleaned it, and reset the screws. The scooter starts and idles fine, but is bogged like before, it doesnt get to high rpm and struggles when full throttle and wont move under my weight anymore, and when I am moving, Im only going 10 mph instead of 30 like it normally ...

Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
I sucked on the vacuum line and fuel comes out of the petcock, so I think I will disassemble and clean the carb tomorrow. I started it up today and it doesnt have enough rpm to move me anywhere, so Im thinking theres a problem with a dirty carb? I havent cleaned it since I got it a year ago.
Ill ...

Re: Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
Thanks for the suggestion!
I took it riding again today and when I noticed it starting to bog down, I pulled over and took the tank cap off. The bogging continued. Where is the screen for the gas tank? How should I check the petcock?
Thanks,
Chaz

Bogging down after riding 10 minutes
Hi all,
I am puzzled by my 86 Spree.
It starts up and idles strong and I can take it for a ride and it accelerates well up to 30mph. After 10-15 minutes of riding WOT , when I try to accelerate after a stop sign or turn, the throttle is bogged down, and Im only going 15-20mph. The same thing ...
